The Robert Rigby Pinhole Camera, announced in December by British professional importer and photo dealer Bob Rigby, is handmade of wood from managed sustainable forest and is intended as a usable product as well as a collectable item.
The pinhole fitted is 0.006" in diameter, positioned at roughly 50mm from the film plane of a 5 x 4 holder, which gives an angle of view of around 100 degrees vertically by 88 degrees horizontally with the camera mounted as shown.
The working aperture is said to be about f/166, with the expected depth of field. There is a 1/4" tripod screw in the base, and the camera will accept conventional 5 x 4 cut film holders of any thickness, using a pressure roller arrangement to keep them in register.
Polaroid 545 and 405 backs can both be used, giving access to instant neg/pos film and also to the new Sepia print material which can give an attractive result with the pinhole image. Polaroid has the benefit that exposure times can be adjusted by trial and error, rather than replying on darkroom tests.
