We obtained a roll of the out-of-date Konica film in its fake Kodak packaging and exposed it at EI 200. Pro lab Warrens of Leeds processed it. You can judge for yourself the Macbeth checker results, which were best at EI 100.
On the left are the results of uncorrected printing using the channel for Konica film, top, and Kodak Gold, bottom. The only fault with the out-of-date Konica film was that its speed appeared to be 100 - probably because it WAS.
The counterfeiters had faked Gold II 200 boxes, only amending the exposure data inside and on the "filmspeed" outer panel. Hence, we suspect, the entire cause of the printing error. If they had labelled it Gold 100, few would ever have noticed the fraud.
