Top art portrait photographer switches to tungsten

Lecturing for the ILFORD Roadshows which toured the UK during 1994, widely published photographer and lecturer Stu Williamson divided his demonstration between regular sponsors Elinchrom, whose flash he uses, and a new angle - working with conventional tungsten lights provided by Photon Beard.

Stu's set-up shown above (he is shown, left, with the lights) allowed exposure of around 1/100th at f4 with ISO 100 film for the many attendees at his lectures who brought their own cameras to try his ideas. The set was completed using Colorama hand-painted Gothic backgrounds, appropriate for Stu, whose dramatic black and white images of pre-Raphaelite girls and powerful goddesses in shining armor are popular art posters.
